Wonderful Chelsea Raised Anchor Period Charger c1752.
This is a visually stunning piece of very early Chelsea porcelain, c1752. It is decorated
in a "Japonaiserie" style with three large butterflies. It measures about 11 inches in diameter and dates
to the raised anchor period, c1752. It is unmarked, but displays lots of moons when held to a strong back-light.
A very similar large plate or charger is illustrated in Chelsea Porcelain by Elizabeth Adams, page 84, fig. 7.22. This
charger is also unmarked and is in the British Museum.
There are a few small chips around the rim, but no cracks
and no restoration. This is a very rare and desirable piece of early Chelsea porcelain of museum quality.
Due
to the size and weight, postage costs, especially overseas postage costs, may be slightly higher than normal. Please
ask for details.
