Other Porcelain Page 1 - including Chelsea, Caughley, Lowestoft, Bow etc

Welcome to the Other Porcelain Pages.
(Factories without their own pages within this web site)

The 1st page in this section features 18th century factories.  We try to maintain a small stock from most factories manufacturing during this period including Longton Hall, Chelsea, Bow, Lowestoft, Caughley, etc. but cannot guarantee to have examples from them at all times.
On the second page you can expect to find a few examples from 19th century factories such as Coalport, Minton, Davenport, H&R Daniel etc, usually with a small selection from the Welsh Factories of Swansea and Nantgarw.

By clicking on a thumbnail, you will open a larger photo in a new web page.

A very fine Caughley moulded creamer decorated in blue and white with The Mother and Child pattern and measuring about 4.5 inches from the tip of the spout to the end of the handle.  There is one very fine and tight hairline, otherwise in super condition.  It has an old collectors sticker below relating to the Wright collection.

Wonderful Chelsea Raised Anchor Period Charger c1752.

This is a visually stunning piece of very early Chelsea porcelain, c1752.  It is decorated in a "Japonaiserie" style with three large butterflies.  It measures about 11 inches in diameter and dates to the raised anchor period, c1752.  It is unmarked, but displays lots of moons when held to a strong back-light.  A very similar large plate or charger is illustrated in Chelsea Porcelain by Elizabeth Adams, page 84, fig. 7.22.  This charger is also unmarked and is in the British Museum.

There are a few small chips around the rim, but no cracks and no restoration.  This is a very rare and desirable piece of early Chelsea porcelain of museum quality.

Due to the size and weight, postage costs, especially overseas postage costs, may be slightly higher than normal.  Please ask for details.

Rare Lowestoft Blue & White Sparrow Beak Jug c1765.

This is a fine and rare Lowestoft sparrow beak jug decorated in under-glaze blue with a temple, fence, tree etc.  It dates to c1765 and has a workman's number (possibly 4) in the footrim.  It has a hairline crack about 1 inch in length near the handle, otherwise it's in very fine order.

Code: O0411ACC

£795.

OtherPorcelain/Caughley_butterboat_O0611PVC.jpg

Lovely Caughley Butter Boat c1790.

A very fine and attractive Caughley butter boat, decorated in under-glaze blue with a simple sprig pattern.  There is a very small glazed over chip to the lip which dates to manufacture and is quite hard to spot.  Apart from a short, tight, half inch hairline it is a tidy as when it left the factory in c1790.  A lovely thing.

Code: O0611PVC

£250.

Scarce Liverpool Blue & White Coffee Can c1785.

This is a good Liverpool coffee can decorated in underglaze blue with the birds in landscape pattern.  Large photos of a coffee pot and tea pot in this same pattern appear in  Geoffrey Godden's book "A Guide to English Blue & White Porcelain" on pages 330 and 331.  Here they attributed to "probably Seth Pennington or Pennington Part".  The can is unmarked and has two small chips to the rim.  It dates to c1785.

£135.

OtherPorcelain/Caughley_smalljug_O0811TV.jpg

Very Rare Caughley Small Milk Jug c1780.

A very rare Caughly small milk jug, marked below with an under-glaze blue S.  It measures about 3.75 inches in diameter and stands just over 2.5 inches high.  Most of the gilding is worn off and there is a faint stress crack to the side, still a very rare shape which will appeal to collectors of Caughley.

Code: O0811TV

£79.

OtherPorcelain/Bow_longoctagonalB1011OTC.jpg

Attractive Bow Octagonal Dish c1755.

A good Bow long octagonal dish, decorated in under-glaze blue and dating to c1755.  It measures about 10.5 inches x 7.5 inches.  It has one hairline plus a small rim chip which is only visible from the reverse, otherwise it is in nice condition and is an attractive piece.

£395.
